I've been doing this photography thing since I was a teenager, learning the basics at high school. Those were the good old days! Using mainly 35mm film and developing and printing under a red light in the darkroom.
If you were into photography back then, you always had a room in the house, or sometimes a cupboard under the stairs blacked out, where you'd spend hours getting that print just right.
There was always the discussions about whether the digital format could ever replace the quality of the chemical process and the detail captured in silver halide crystals.
I remember thinking that digital cameras would never be as good a quality as film, especially fine grain medium format...boy was I wrong!
Out in the field with Mr B ... my trusty 4x4 van.
Personally, I find digital photography and the post processing software available way more creative. But I'm glad I learnt photography with film, and the hours spent using an enlarger and creating prints gave me a solid understanding of the creative process.
So if you're looking for an image or piece of art, I hope you find something in my work that you like. I really appreciate it when somebody purchases one of my prints. The fact that someone else finds value in my work is nice, but it's great that it's getting seen rather than just sitting as a file on my hard-drive!
Also you're helping a local and independent artist, so every purchase brings me closer to giving up my day job!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find that piece of art you were looking for.
